Barn Name: Kastor Baby
Kastor is a sweetheart, but our herd enforcer. She is a Chamoisee/Buckskin Roan w/minimal
white & moonspots. We discovered her spots June 2021 when she was given a show clip for
LA's. She was the first of Jacobim's girls on the stand. We were surprised when we
switched to a milking machine and her volume almost doubled! Kastor holds back quite a
bit of milk for her kids. She has tested A/B for AlphaS1-Casein.
Kastor held her own at 2021 Linear's. Her sire, Goldie's boy, vastly improved
Kastor's udder over her dam. In Udder Side she scored 12 points higher, in Udder Height
10 points higher & 9 points higher in Medial & Rear Arch compared to her dam. At 2021
LA's, Kastor was terrified in a new place and was uneasy walking around when presented.
Appraiser commented that it was hard to evaluate her since she was moving so awkwardly,
envision a goat Frankenstein walk. Feels like she can score higher if she were being
appraised at home. Her udder is not her strongest asset, but she seems conformationally
correct.
Well we right about Kastor, we had LA's on our farm in 2023 and she was just
perfect for the appraiser. Kastor scored a FS88 (VEEG) under a very tough but fair
appraiser. She scored an average of 5 points higher in Linear Categories over her 2021
appraisal. Kastor also received and E in Rump & Rear Legs. Couldn't be happier for her,
we have always thought she was very nice goat. To see full Linear & Structural category
scores for our herd, click on the Linear Appraisal link below.
Barn Name: Lola
Lola has the prettiest little face. She is such a quiet sweet goat. She is brown Light
Belly with heavily Frosted Ears, a Star, with some Random White and a bit of roaning on
the shoulders & moonspots. Her spots are a dark brown which are impossible to see on an
unclipped brown coat.
Lola is one of our top 4 milkers. She is A/B for AlphaS1-Casein. We were not
disappointed in score at 2021 LA. Lola was a very dainty not yet mature doe in 2021.
Appraiser made sure to point that out to us before he gave us her score. Her then
yearling daughter was larger than she was. Not sure where her dainty stature comes from
as both her parents are dairy but robust. Lola's chest has broadened, and her body
capacity increased in 2022. She is still very refined. Look forward to seeing how she
improves on her score at our next LA. Lola's udder with quads in 2022 was huge! Just
what she needed to push her to the next level. Her teat diameter has also increased
dramatically, still nowhere near her Dam's.
2023 was just not Lola's year. Her udder was as expected on her 4th freshening,
beautiful! We finally thought she would shine at LA's. But unfortunately, that was not
to be...Murphy's Law...Lola had a difficult weaning of one of her boys. He was not sold
prior to weaning & cried every waking hour for about 3 weeks, till he went to live with
his brother. Poor Lola was distraught. Then the weather decided to get ungodly hot &
humid, Heat Index over a 100 for about 9 days. Lola developed milk stones in both
udders, and she started to dry up. I managed to bring her back by hand milking, but she
looked pathetic. Luckily our appraiser agreed that it would not be a fair assessment of
her. She did appraise her like the boys, but she did not receive a FS. Still very
helpful information.
Lola did improve on her Linear & Structural scores from
2021, so we are pleased. She beat her dam in 5 of the 7 Linear Categories she was
evaluated on. Lola's udder is really her strongest asset so to see her improve in other
areas is just fabulous. I think she has a much nicer udder than her dam. Lola is a late
bloomer like her Paternal Sister, BREWFM KASTOR. Kastor had been on our sell list every
year but always somehow made it off at the last minute. Jacobim's girls are really nice
goats, just very slow to hit their stride. We will see if 2025 might be Lola's year
finally.
Barn Name: Niamh (Neev)
Niamh was born on St Paddy's Day, so she was given our favorite Irish Name. We had to try
3 times to get this little girl! We think she was worth the wait. Her dam is our best
milker & her sire is our go to buck. Niamh is A/A for Alpha-s1 Casein, like her dam. We
are hoping she will have her dam's quiet, no fuss temperament & her sire's refined dairy
look. So far, she is quiet, except at feeding time. Her quiet temperament makes it tough
on heat detection.
Niamh did very well at LA's as a FF, FS82 (GGGG). She was only 52 DIM at the
Appraisal, but scored an Udder Trifecta: 35/42/35. Cannot wait to see how her udder
matures in her 2nd & 3rd lactations. Appraiser was concerned on her lack of Medial but,
she was only 52 DIM on her first freshening. Her dam has linear score of 37 in Medial.
Niamh's 3/4 sister scored a 20 in Medial on her 2nd Lactation & a 37 in her 4th
Lactation. So we are not overly concerned about her Medial. Niamh is going to be a great
on the stand just like her dam, Goldie, who is our best milker. We will be offering
Niamh's 2024 boys as bucks.
2023 Yearling Doe / Barn Name: Rosa
Rosa Bella is the spitting image of her 3/4 Sister, Leela! It was definately hard to choose which of Nella's three girls to retain. I would have loved to keep them all. They all have awesome temperments. We expect great things from this little one. Her dam's udder is a huge improvement on her dam's. We expect Rosa to freshen with a even better udder. Can't wait to see it in 2025. Rosa's DD was one of our last outcross doe we brought into the herd. She has some very nice AGS lines from her Dam's Sire Sol. We also own Sol's Materinal sister Brewfm Kastor.
2023 Yearling Doe / Barn Name: Rain
Rain is a no fuss little goat, just like we like them. Rain is going to make a great mother just
like her dam & granddam. She is babysitting her 8 siblings this kidding season. Four are her
dam's kids & four are her Granddam/Sire's kids. Haven't been able to snap a picture of it yet
but she sleeps with all eight snuggled around her! Rain was on our Sale Page, but I have decided
to hold on to her for now. A doe that shows this much maternal instinct is one we will hold
onto.
Rain is only the 3rd doe out of our buck, Tonic. It would seem like we are
hoarding his girls, and we would be if he gave us more. They are all just beautiful, nice solid
girls. Tonic seems
to be a buck sire in our herd, that's not a bad thing if you are trying for a herd sire. Rain is
emerging from an awkward growth stage and is starting to look a bit more balanced. We are liking
what we are seeing. Rain is on the smaller side, but has more strenght than her dam. Rain's dam's third freshening udder was a really nice suprise, hoping her new owners will get her appraised in 2025. We are super excited to see Rain's udder in 2025, but realise her udder might need a few years to mature like her dam's did.
